Piano Movers in Tampa
Spinets, uprights and grand pianos moved across Tampa, including condo towers where the piano has to fit a freight elevator and bungalows where it has to come down brick front steps. Tell us the piano and the path, and we’ll give you a guaranteed price.
What kind of piano are we moving?
The type of piano decides the equipment, the crew size and most of the price. If you’re not sure what you have, a photo of the whole piano is enough for us to tell.
Spinet or console
Short uprights, common in older Tampa homes. Spinet front legs are mostly decorative and snap if the piano is rolled on them, so we support the case instead.
Full upright
Tall, top-heavy, with most of the weight in the cast-iron plate at the back. It goes on a piano dolly, gets strapped, and is walked by two or three movers.
Baby grand or grand
The lid, pedal lyre and legs come off. The body is set on its straight side on a padded piano board, strapped, and carried as one piece.
Digital piano
Not a piano move. A digital piano or keyboard moves like any other piece of furniture, so you shouldn’t be paying specialty rates for one.

Where Tampa piano moves get tricky
Downtown, Channelside and Harbour Island towers
A baby grand on its board is about five feet long and nearly as tall, so before we book a tower move we need the freight elevator’s inside depth and door height, plus your building’s insurance certificate rules. We’ve taken a grand fifteen floors up in a downtown building this way.
Hyde Park, Seminole Heights and Tampa Heights
A lot of older homes sit up on piers, with four to six front steps and a narrow front door. Pianos go up and down those steps on a board with a strap crew, never bumped step to step on a dolly.
What changes the price
Plenty of companies quote a base rate and then add charges for each flight of stairs on the day. We’d rather know up front, so the number you get is the number you pay. Here’s what we ask about:
- Piano type and size. For grands, the length from the keyboard to the tail.
- Every step on the route. How many at each address, and whether there’s a turn or landing.
- Elevators and long carries. Freight elevator size, loading dock, or a long walk from where the truck can park.
- Distance. Across Tampa, across the bay, or to another Florida city.
- Anything else going. If the piano is part of a full move, it’s priced into that job.
A few things that help
- Take a couple of photos of the finish so you have a record of how it looked.
- Clear a path from the piano to the door, including rugs that could bunch up.
- Empty the bench and the inside of the lid.
- Don’t try to roll a grand across the room on its own casters. They catch on rugs and thresholds and can crack a leg.
- Decide exactly where it goes at the new place, ideally on an inside wall away from a window or AC vent.
Tampa piano moving questions
Will moving my piano knock it out of tune?
The ride itself usually doesn’t do much. What changes the tuning is the new room’s temperature and humidity. Let it sit for a few weeks with the AC running normally, then call your tuner. We don’t tune pianos ourselves.
My condo needs a certificate of insurance and an elevator booking. Can you handle that?
Yes. Send us the building’s requirements and we’ll get the certificate to management before move day. We’ll also ask you for the freight elevator measurements so we know the piano fits before we show up.
Can you move just the piano?
Yes. Piano-only jobs are common, whether it’s a new purchase, a piano coming from a family member’s house, or one going to a church, school or studio.
What if there’s damage?
Look the piano over with the crew before it’s wrapped and again after it’s set up. Point out any marks that are already there. If something happens during the move, tell the crew lead before they leave so it’s documented that day.
Do you move pianos out of town?
Within Florida, yes, including Orlando, Sarasota and Jacksonville. We aren’t doing out-of-state moves right now.
