Small Move and Single-Item Movers in Tampa
A couch, a bed and a dresser. A studio in Ybor. One heavy cabinet going across town. Small moves are easy to overpay for, so here’s an honest take on when a moving company makes sense and when an app or a friend with a truck is the better call.
Moving company or moving app?
An app or a friend is probably fine if…
- It’s one or two light items
- You’re happy to carry one end yourself
- There are no stairs, or just a few
- Nothing you’re moving would be a disaster to scratch
Call a moving crew when…
- Something takes two strong people, like a sleeper sofa, solid wood dresser or appliance
- There’s a walk-up, a long hallway or a building elevator
- You need pads, straps and a box truck, not a pickup bed in the rain
- You want it insured and done in one trip
If yours falls in the second column, tell us exactly what’s going. You’ll get a fixed price for those items, not a full-move price for a couch.

What small moves usually look like here
Student apartments. Lots of our small jobs are one-bedroom moves around USF, Fowler Avenue and Bruce B. Downs, especially when leases turn over in late summer.
Summer storage. Leaving town for the summer? We’ll move your furniture into a storage unit in May and bring it to the new place in August.
Studios and condos. Downtown, Ybor and Westshore studios, where the elevator and the loading zone matter more than how much stuff you have.
One piece across town. A dining table to a sibling’s house, a recliner to the new place, a desk out of an office.
Tampa small move questions
Do you have a minimum charge?
Small jobs are priced for what they actually are. List the items, the floors at each end, and the distance, and you’ll get a fixed price before anything is booked.
Do I have to help carry?
No. The crew does the lifting. All you need to do is point to where things go.
Can you move one item today?
Often, if a crew is free. Call and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can make it today or tomorrow.
How do I make a small move as fast as possible?
Box everything that isn’t furniture, empty the drawers, and save us a parking spot close to the door. Loose items and bags slow small moves down more than anything else.
