Heavy and Oversized Movers in Tampa, FL
The items other Tampa movers refuse to touch are exactly what we are built for. Items over 1,000 pounds, awkward shapes, and one-of-a-kind pieces, moved safely.
The Tampa Movers Who Take the Jobs Others Won't
Some items scare off the big franchises. The 800-pound gym setup on a Bayshore third floor, the slate pool table, the aquarium that needs a crane into a Channel District condo. When a mover says no, or says yes and then shows up unprepared, you are left holding the risk. Merit and Muscle Movers specializes in the heavy and oversized. We have moved items over 1,000 pounds, and once moved a 2,500-pound fish tank using cranes. The right equipment, the right plan, and a Tampa crew that has done it before.

Built for the Items Most Tampa Movers Refuse
Heavy and oversized items are not just hard to lift. They are easy to damage, easy to get hurt on, and easy to get stuck in a doorway. That is why most movers turn them down. We took the opposite approach and made them our specialty.
Pool tables, gym and fitness equipment, large appliances, aquariums, arcade and claw machines, oversized furniture, and items well over 1,000 pounds. We bring the dollies, straps, ramps, and, when a job calls for it, cranes.
We craned a 2,500 pound aquarium off the curb and into a home in Lutz, just north of Tampa, lifting the tank three and a half feet to set it exactly where it belonged. It is the kind of job most movers turn down.

What Tampa Says
Posted on Google Melissa SouthworthTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently used Merit & Muscle Moving, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the first phone call to the last item being unloaded, the entire process was professional, efficient, and stress-free. The crew arrived on time, worked hard the entire move, and handled my furniture and boxes with great care. They were respectful, friendly, and communicated clearly throughout the day so I always knew what was happening. Even with some heavy and awkward pieces, they found safe, efficient ways to move everything without damaging my home or belongings. What stood out most was their work ethic. There was no wasted time—they stayed focused, hustled the entire move, and treated my belongings as if they were their own. Their pricing was transparent, and there were no surprises at the end. If you’re looking for a moving company that is reliable, hardworking, and professional, I highly recommend Merit & Muscle Moving. I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to friends and family.Posted on Google Stephanie MerlanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am extremely disappointed with the service I received. The movers arrived without the proper tools and equipment needed to complete the job efficiently. They spent nearly two hours trying to dismantle a single entertainment center, costing me approximately $450 in labor alone. Previous movers dismantled the same unit in about 15 minutes because they had the proper tools and experience. The truck they brought also did was not large enough to fit all of my furniture. Throughout much of the move, they spent more time discussing how to complete the work than actually moving my belongings. At the time, very few items had been handled, and none of the heavy furniture—which was the primary reason I hired professional movers—had been moved. To make matters worse, they ran over and damaged a sign on my neighbors property. They also damaged my kitchen table because they failed to properly wrap or protect it before moving it. These damages could have been avoided with basic care and professional moving practices. I want to be clear that I am not upset with the workers themselves, as they were doing their best under the circumstances. My frustration is directed toward the owner of the company for sending a crew to such a large and demanding job unprepared, without the proper tools, training, or support needed to complete it efficiently and safely. My furniture is not cheap, and several items have already been damaged, with parts lost during the process. As of now, not a single item has been fully reassembled. Items have been left behind at the old house while other pieces have been brought to the new house, resulting in disorganization and incomplete handling of my belongings. Additionally, I want to acknowledge that last minute on Friday, I called Jordan and asked if he could send help to load my U-Haul. He immediately responded and sent a crew on very short notice. I truly appreciated that support, and it gave me hope and confidence going into the move on Saturday. Unfortunately, the experience today did not meet those expectations. Overall, the service was unprepared, inefficient, and careless. Between the lack of proper equipment, the excessive delays, the property damage, and the damage to my furniture, this was an unacceptable experience. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.Posted on Google Lee EisenbergTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Lucas and Nick did an amazing job! Heavy & Oversized Moving FAQ
What heavy items do you move in Tampa?
Pool tables, gym and fitness equipment, aquariums, arcade and claw machines, large appliances, oversized furniture, and items well over 1,000 pounds. These are the jobs we specialize in.
Can you really move something over 1,000 pounds?
Yes. We move items most crews refuse, and we once moved a 2,500-pound fish tank using cranes. We bring the right rigging and a crew that has done it before.
Do you use cranes for Tampa high-rise and condo jobs?
When a job calls for it, yes. For oversized items going into downtown Tampa high-rises or condos with freight elevators, we plan the lift and bring cranes and proper rigging.
How much does a heavy-item move cost?
Local moves run on an hourly rate plus one flat truck fee for materials, with no hidden fees. Tell us the item, the weight, and the layout and we give you a clear price upfront.
Is my home and my item protected?
Yes. We pad and wrap the item and protect walls, floors, and door frames the whole way. We are fully insured, and a certificate of insurance (COI) is available on request.
Can you move extremely heavy items like a loaded aquarium in the Tampa area?
Yes. We handle the items most movers refuse. We once craned a 2,500 pound aquarium into a home in Lutz, just north of Tampa, lifting it three and a half feet to set it in place. For oversized jobs we bring a gantry crane and the right rigging.
